I also really, REALLY don't like the layout. Even if I fix the walls and remove the visual noise, it's still SO cluttered! The camera angle is also a major problem, natively. I'm thinking about going first person. Which is something you see more in 2D Dungeon crawlers, not turnbased RPGS.
