Last month, the legislature passed a law requiring age-verification for websites featuring "material harmful to minors" under the guise of protecting children from online pornography. Now they're citing that law to threaten librarians.

The firestorm of age-verification laws have done almost nothing to prevent minors from accessing porn online. What they have done is give the state a powerful tool to harass speech they don't like by declaring it pornographic or "harmful to minors."

It'd be funny if porn artists took all the non-LGBTQ+ kids books and made LGBTQ+ rule 34 art of all the characters, and then complained to these republican politicians that all kids books are pornographic except the LGBTQ+ ones and that the only way to protect kids is by reading LGBTQ+ kids books.
