Seemingly the only thing left open after 5 or 6 PM are restaurants, bars, and general retail stores. Specialty stores, cafes, and other third places that aren't dying malls have basically vanished after 4-5 PM. We are becoming atomized as a society.

Note this also includes public services and utilities. Maybe they've always kind of had an early-close kind of deal, but it seems remarkably impossible to contact public agencies/utilities customer service if you work a 9-5 as most of those numbers close at 5, and they're also closed on weekends.
