I like that Motoko's frivolity fits well with her anxieties. She makes light of death a lot, but is clearly anxious over whether she's even "alive". She is either distracting herself or on a mission, and the OG and new series are lovingly reflecting her both sincere and overcompensated dorkiness.

Motoko in the 95' movie is so serious and unapproachable, OG Motoko is just so whimsy and silly.
