The Royal Society (UK) has several grants for international researchers to spend time in the UK. The Wolfson Visiting Fellowship is specifically for sabbaticals. Many universities have their own schemes.

While I'm US-based these days I've been keeping an eye out thinking ahead about sabbaticals. I know I saw something at Ocean Networks Canada about a researcher-in-residence program that might be worth looking at? (Just from my own "hmm this sounds cool" list though, no firsthand experience with it.)
