Something about this game in particular, REALLY takes me back to pre-internet living. Where there were times when all you had was a tv with no cable, and a video game, that was your only company, in your quiet room, safe from the inky black void of nothingness outside.

I think the save room might be my favorite save room theme this far. It’s a lot more whimsical, but also unmistakably somber. Like it’s trying extra hard to be comforting, but just can’t hide the bleakness of the world around it.

What came before was Banjo Kazooie, and that game’s way better than DK64. I think it’s more a problem of them coming up with a good formula, and not knowing how to iterate on it, and just doing, “the same, but MORE and BIGGER”

Why does nearly every minigame suck complete ass? At best, they’re just kind of annoying wastes of time, at worst, they’re awkward, unintuitive headaches that are nigh impossible. You’d legit need to dedicate a LOT of time to master the awkward ass mechanics.

I think I might hate DK64… Now that I’m no longer bed-ridden, I don’t think I have the patience for it anymore.
