what the actual fuck is up with all these film festival bots following me in the last 48 hours (rhetorical: bots gonna bot but like. come on now.)

I'm reading a book on writing craft from 2016 that actually indicates exactly why I'm against the AI witch hunts based purely on line-level reads of the various "tells" like rule of 3, em-dashes, negative parallelisms, and "the thing? something something" as the only proofs.

(the last sentence in this post is another example of run-on sentence; again, not because it's long, but because it's two independent clauses not properly joined (or separated) by punctuation and/or a coordinating conjunction!)

anyway, sorry, what I'm saying here is that all these Very Serious Classic Novels that we make kids read throughout their school careers can and will teach them that reading is an arduous chore that must be endured. because people are allowed to read solely for fun sorry not sorry

re: LRP I want us to actually buckle down and have a hard conversation that not meeting kids were they're actually at as far as the required reading in school is what makes a lot of kids become lifelong NOT!readers if they're not being encouraged to read/modelled reading for pleasure at home.

When I'm Divine Sovereign I'm going to declare that Storygraph and Goodreads can't add "romance" to a book unless bookstores/libraries actually put that book in the romance section. Anyone who knows Greek mythology knows romance readers aren't gonna have a good time with Song of Achilles.

and on the subject of plot v story, that's one of the things that's so frustrating about nitpick reviews and any "reviewer" (*cough* Shapiro *cough*) who get so caught up in the *events* of a thing that they miss out on the actual STORY being told to them. Story happens because of the plot, and 👇

I'm sorry, I'll never understand the "you gave away the ENTIRE PLOT" complaints about trailers because on what planet is that ACTUALLY true. A PREMISE is not a PLOT. Also plot is less important than story and yes those ARE two different things. 😘

I've been occupied and it's going to be a bit before I actually watch the Direct, but that's not stopping me from taking 5 minutes right now to read everyone's posts about it.

I don't talk about The Adventure Zone: Balance podcast, like, ever? But it's one of the very best fantasy stories I've ever encountered, across all mediums. And the graphic novels are collectively one of the most masterful adaptations ever made, too.

37: The Adventure Zone: Story and Song | McElroys x4 & Carey Pietsch | 5/5 A glorious finale to one of the best adaptations ever made. Review on Storygraph: app.thestorygraph.com/reviews/f654... or GR (which still doesn't have the cover???? garbage website!): www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

Okay, it's #grammar time with JT: A long sentence isn't inherently a run-on sentence. No matter how long it is, if it's correctly punctuated and has the appropriate coordinating conjunctions, it's a normal sentence that is just long and maybe awkward to read aloud. Example of run-on in reply 👇
