Even with the correct function, I was still a bit unsure. So I looked it up on YouTube and found a short video from a human walking through the steps of more or less what I wanted to do. That's how everyone used to learn simple stuff before chatbots. It was fine. AI adds no value.

I wanted to do something beyond my level of expertise with Excel, so I asked Reddit and got a correct answer right away from someone who was eager to help me. Also they didn't generate 12 paragraphs of bloated text in the most annoying tone imaginable, so that was a plus.

I think some of the people who says AI improves the quality of their writing mean something else entirely. Something about polish, structure, professionalism. It's entirely about the surface presentation, not about the substance.

"Using AI improves the overall quality of my writing." I need everybody to understand that it really, really doesn't. But I think maybe the problem is we don't have the same definition of "quality." For me, quality means authenticity, having your own voice, working through an original thought. >>
