I’ve been wary of Taylor Farms and their subsidiaries for a while, their stuff always seemed to go bad WAY too fast. And the MCAS got bad enough last year that I’ve pretty much stopped eating anything I didn’t personally cook from scratch, I can’t even do leftovers past 24 hours anymore.

My understanding is that cilantro is one of the common culprits but it’s unknown if that was the case this time. I’ve been avoiding pretty much all raw vegetables and any herbs that I didn’t personally grow. Thankfully my own raspberries are ripe so at least I’ve had fresh fruit.

Sooooooo how sure are we at this point that the outbreak is limited to lettuce? One of my current MCAS safe foods requires scallions and it is NOT good with cooked scallions. (I tried. It was edible but I did not enjoy it.) And I have exhausted my supply of pre-outbreak regrown scallions.

I can now get through it in about half a day, but the first couple of years it took the better part of a week to find all of the documentation they wanted. Which was time and energy I very much did not have to spare when I was a newly divorced single parent struggling to keep a roof over our heads.

I homeschool and was homeschooled, so I can’t speak to school lunches, but my kid and I are both on Medicaid and the annual redetermination process is an exhausting barrage of paperwork that boils down to “why are you still poor and how dare you have any assets.” Applying for SNAP is even worse.

I’m working on a couple of memorial pieces using horsehair and I have three EXTREMELY interested dogs trying to help me. Particularly the half Pyr, who promptly went into PROTECCC mode about it instead of yelling at it like she usually does with anything new I bring into the house.

(In my defense, I had been meaning to sign back up for AAA ever since Feral Teenager started learning to drive, but I kept forgetting. 🤦🏻‍♀️ And while I have now done so, they want an extra $125 for calls in the first three days.)
