Day 4 of the #WarsawUprising: 32-year-old physician Władysław Budzyński was shot by German soldiers in the hospital where he worked while trying to aid an injured nurse. He was buried in a mass grave, later exhumed and reinterred in 1947 at Powązki Military Cemetery.

On Day 5 of the #WarsawUprising, teenage nurse Barbara Dominiak — codename "Baśka" — succumbed to wounds sustained in the fighting. About 14–15 years old, she was burned and seriously injured.

Day 3 of the #WarsawUprising: 21-year-old messenger Henryka Narostek lost her life the same day her 24-year-old fiancé, Antoni Grabowski, was killed. That morning Antoni’s platoon had dismantled rails between Legionowo and Chotomów to derail German trains, blocking a key route.

Captured on the first day of the #WarsawUprising while carrying an order between units, 19-year-old messenger Halina Jasiukowicz was executed by German forces on Skolimowska Street on this day. #History #WW2

Day 2 of the Warsaw Uprising and 19 year old messenger Hanna Rychłowska was killed while trying to break through to the Kampinos forest where the rest of her unit was located. There were about 150 insurgents that set off and they were all armed with a dozen or so pistols, grenades, and rifles.

Day 2 of the #WarsawUprising and 23 year old medic, Maria Kwiecinska, codename, "Maja" was killed alongside her husband Lieutenant Zbigniew Kwieciński, codename "Pretwicz". They were part of a group of insurgents who launched an attack on a Dominican Monastery in the southern part of Warsaw.

Dorota and Franciszek died from the injuries they sustained that day

It was #OTD in 1944, that 19 year old Jerzy Cieslak, codename "Prądzynski" was killed during the #WarsawUprising. He died in the first few hours of the Uprising most likely after a battle with the Germans while he was on his way to his platoon's meet up point.

It was #OTD at 5pm in 1944 that the brave citizens of Warsaw rose up against their oppressors. Thousands of men, women and children took up arms to free their city from German hands.
