fix your hearts

I've been playing rocket league lately and I've noticed that there are tons of people on there more skilled than I am, but who are terrible at it because they don't understand how to position themselves. Then they get mad at "tm8s" because they're losing. This is a post about journalists on Bluesky.

If I were Bill Simmons - who outed a trans woman at Grantland, leading to her suicide - I would not let my staff talk about trans issues ever again!

If a tripod is set up on a sidewalk and nobody stops to yell at it, does it even make a sound? On Sophie Cunningham and a league that's finally learning to turning down the temperature: www.theringer.com/2026/07/29/w...

In this case, the questions around it are against fixing the issue. "What problem does [a city run grocery] solve?" Come on, man.

paul khruangbin (Dan Lehner)

if there’s anything I would want to drill into the public consciousness it’s that there are almost always like a dozen ways to approach any given problem and some of them will be more effective than others and we have to stop acting like the questions around it are against fixing the issue

One of the neat things about the history of human thought is that ancient people came up with ideas like "maybe everything is made of tiny little particles" and "maybe everything, including us, is all part of one big structure called the universe" and they were bang on.

Olúfẹ́mi O. Táíwò

one tendency that comes out about period films is the insistence that XYZ moral thought would not have occurred to anyone in the ancient world. to be sure there are moral innovations and changes but the existence of thorough dissatisfaction with the present moral order is not a modern phenomenon

What's powerful to me about the idea of labor organizing is that 1) we all need to have a politics built on the idea that everyone deserves autonomy and dignity, and 2) our collective labor has to be the thing that binds us because honestly most of you are really annoying

David Cronenberg regularly made films that looked like they were shot on a camcorder in a friend's backyard, but they had such powerful and inventive ideas that you wouldn't stop thinking about them for weeks. Christopher Nolan is, for better or for worse, the exact opposite of this.

Inchoade screaming. When the scream is really deep but really quiet.

It's his best song by a mile: short, haunting, every lyric more unhinged than the last, ending in him literally howling. Do not trust anyone posting an "awesome cover version."

Bruce Springsteen just put up a lyric video to "I'm on Fire," and it's a good reminder that these hot takes about Bob Seger being better than him are pure bunk. Seger never did anything as weird, disturbing, and bleak. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipZz...

I suppose it's possible that all the people responding to this with "you should join your local committee!" live in places with thriving committees working under county/state leadership that isn't just a nest of vipers. I have some doubts.

There's nothing to "join" in the Democratic Party. It's a brand with products I spend my vote on once a year at the democracy store. Most people's experience of it is an endless stream of texts that read like scams, their reward for donating or signing a petition. No wonder DSA is growing

People keep posting "there's a lot to say about Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey" and I simply do not believe it.

i think we should decouple running for elected office from the notion of being "called" to "public service." you mostly just wanted a six-figure job where you got attention

Four words: Seven Samurai Cinematic Universe. America is crying out for a standalone film about Heihachi Hayashida.
