After the whole GDQ SNK thing yesterday, I had that weird moment where I had to step back and remind myself that "Real world dictator is trying to use Art of Fighting 3 to become god king emperor of ESports" is a fucking insane thing to actually be real.

A hidden terribleness about the AI translations of older games that keep popping up lately - in this case Tricolor Crise for the Dreamcast - is the way they knock the wind out of the sails of the people who are trying to actually do it properly. LLM version didn't even use the right character names.

this still doesn't feel real like. i read pat's book on getting into fighting games 10 years ago, when i was a freshman in high school. being interviewed by him now shows how far i've come

One of the more influential forces in the FGC, imo. Modders inadvertently do so much to make this a fun, creative community space. I've witnessed and felt a lot of the downstream impacts.

for clarification: night sky engine is a fighting game engine built in unreal engine 5.
