Not a great photo but a great encounter with a butterfly I've never seen or even heard of before, a Northern Pearly Eye. They have a very unusual diet of fungi, sap, carrion (!) and dung, and will often get minerals from damp gravel or sand. This guy was on gravel near bear scat, so: buffet!
