yeah they're great books. that are also very much Of Their Time, but that's also what makes them interesting....

oh for sure, the swordspoint books are very very lymond. (at least swordspoint and privilege, have yet to read fall of kings)

it may sound specious but if a character in a novel "smiles blandly" they are a Lymond. those are the rules

you could as easily call it queen's thief dna, since megan whalen turner uses all these same tricks in her books. tho from what i understand, queen's thief is another case of convergent evolution.....

examples of lymond dna: 1. the protagonist is described from the perspective of another character to disguise their plans and motivations 2. the reader knows more than the viewpoint character (or do they?!) 3. the author uses the word "blandly"
