My Canadian shows have been a blast. You really feel like a comedian if you can retain an audience's attention when half of them are also eating quesadillas or poutine.

It is incredibly difficult to accept that Glen Hansard died, but if you can leave the world being spoken about as he is, you've done a lot right.

CANADIAN TRAIN ETIQUETTE UPDATE: the woman opposite me has just taken a phone call and said 'I can't really talk on the train, so you just tell me things and I'll keep going mmm-hmm.'

I should add, Apollo was a very glossy, expensively shot and produced take on 'club comedy', made in a huge theatre. If money's the issue, it would be easy to make a very good lo-fi stand-up show for absolute peanuts. It's been done before. But people will be pitching that in vain until 2078.

I'm grateful to have been on this when I was still quite new. It drew the public's attention to a lot of good acts. The comedy format commissioners are most scared of remains 'standups doing standup' (followed by 2. sketch shows and 3. anything else that isn't a road trip round Spain with banter).

In case I haven't said it enough, I have shows in Toronto on Wednesday; Hamilton Thursday. You can never say it enough. Or is that telling people you love them? Well, I'm covered now anyway.

I'm on the train from Montréal to Toronto. There's just been a reminder that it is MANDATORY to use headphones when watching video. I can't believe this guys have resorted to legislation, rather than our system of having 75% of the carriage sit in murderous, futile rage.

I'm in an Airbnb far from the UK. Woke up to the horrifying sound of bin lorries, knowing I'd not left ours out. Grabbed it, ran barefoot down the road with it for about 50m, thrust it at a bin man while pleading in bad French. He took it. It's, if not my greatest ever achievement, right up there.

With films these days you get a lot of post-credits scenes, little extra bits sneaked in - sometimes up to ten minutes after the final frame - and it can be hard to know when it's safe to leave the cinema. Tricky with kids in particular. I'd like to propose the following system (THREAD):
