Even a system explicitly designed to prevent tyranny can evolve into one that enables it, if enough people want it to. Formal checks and balances still exist, but informal ones - culture, civic virtue, institutional courage - are ignored, neutralized, or weaponized by polarization.

#ChatControl inverts the bedrock legal principle of presumption of innocence, replacing it with a "guilty until proven innocent" model where everyone's private life is subject to constant vetting by flawed, automated systems.

#ChatControl replaces targeted, evidence-based investigation with a system of generalized, suspicionless scanning that treats 450 million EU citizens as permanent suspects by default.

#ChatControl Democratic legal systems require that state surveillance be an extraordinary measure, typically demanding a warrant issued by a judge based on probable cause or reasonable suspicion against a specific individual or group. Chat control completely violates this due process.

@arjenlubach.bsky.social Ik zou het geweldig vinden als je een segment doet over Petertje Hummelgaard en de EU, die met hun #ChatControl voorstel iedereen z’n eitjes willen zien: verplichte client-side scanning van privéberichten van 450 miljoen EU-burgers. Bijna niemand kent dit krankzinnige plan.
