Crowland Abbey possesses a green man roof boss. It’s unusual to find a green man in the altar and sanctuary but this one has been in place since the 15th century.

I imagine it's mostly people on holiday, unlikely to visit that museum again. People can't afford many holidays so pack more in than can be enjoyed leisurely. It's like guzzling down a gourmet meal, but when it's your only chance to experience it, I can understand why they do it.

What a beautiful area you grew up in. And I agree, it’s heartbreaking to see it in this condition. It needs restoration. But it’s testimony to how stunning the building is that it still holds it own even in this condition.
