NVEnergy can’t even deliver the wildland and private property development mitigation documents they promised to landowners months ago. I’m sure they’re super concerned about their ratepayers.

California sees practically every car in the state once every two years for a smog check. California sees older cars once a year for the same reason. You can drive in with ball tires and no operational lights, and as long as your car doesn’t pollute, you get to drive your death trap on the roads.

But how fast were you going? That’s what really matters when fault transfers to you for a rear end collision.

I know this might seem surprising for people who have bought into the lazy idea that moving faster than 0 mph makes every accident a speed related collision, but that’s not true, and it never has been. Inattention is the primary driver of automobile accidents. Excessive speed only makes them worse.

Speed on its own does not cause accidents when the government is involved to make sure that there are a minimal number of unserviceable cars on the road. We don’t do that in the West. I see more bald tires in October than in March. A month later, a cavalcade of accidents on California freeways.

I don’t know how you fix the cycle of cops having explicit biases in who they pull over versus not doing anything at all that’s been going on since the BLM protests. The only enforcement I ever see in California or Nevada is a cop car sitting on the side of the road idling with a speed gun out.

Simultaneously building billions of dollars in transmission lines for a handful of clients and suing the biggest one of those clients at the same time.

This is a post about Weber, a clueless company that used to do one thing well until they bought the startup I worked for, burned down the technology, failed to market it, and just shut down thousands of useful devices four years after purchase.

I’m angry this morning. I’m angry about something that doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things, but it’s just one more bit of tech company bullshit making stuff people spent money on worthless less than five years after it was new.

I know of an identical spec for sale in the Bay Area…sigh.
