No one should go into this industry expecting it to be easy to navigate, let alone succeed in, but I think there are ways to help people power through the challenges, so that they have the best chance possible.

I owe being able to make @mangamavericks.bsky.social foray into manga publishing a reality, largely due to the friendships and connections I made over almost a decade covering manga. But even with that, there were a ton of challenges, finding reasonable distribution being key among them.

This is something that Harrison from Mahjong Pros and I have been thinking about for a while: A way we can help fellow publishers and indie creators in the manga space get the support they need to bring their projects to a wider audience.

Like AMC Empire’s average seating per screen is nearly double and that still sold out, so I’m not surprised that the Burbank one sold out so fast. Hopefully it gets more showtimes and/or additional theaters.

It’s honestly super bizarre to me that they’re screening Avatar Aang at AMC Burbank Town Center 6, instead of an AMC in LA that has screens with actual substantial seating. Like this should have been at Century City or The Grove imo.

This is def a big passion project for most all of us. It’s also, from my end, a very fun project to be part of.

It’s been amazing seeing shojo fans show such strong and positive support for The Sword of Paros announcement! This is easily our craziest (and frankly most expensive) project to date, so all the pre-orders and sharing are a massive help! 😭😭😭
