I don’t think she’s saying she’s got a problem with the genre per se, I think Nolan was sort of working backwards from themes she doesn’t think are particularly interesting or good fits for the material Which is probably true! Damon’s Odysseus is quite different from Homer’s!

Like it is true that being accurate takes more time but is that not sort of the point of the enterprise?

Also the criticism about the Horse not having wheels is just sort of dumb, like Nolan actually built the damn thing! I don’t think you could make a period axle or wheels that would survive the weight and even if you did it’s not like there’s a road to pull it on, and again the sequence worked!

I mean a lot of it is in the “I wish Nolan had made a different film” genre which like fair enough but he made this one Like I get why Wilson doesn’t like Circe but I also think that sequence works extremely well in the movie

My synthesis is that Nolan did a great job at something Wilson had no desire to exist so the criticism is fair and interesting but was essentially unrelated to the merits of the film as a work of cinema
