Weird because when an allegation is printed in a newspaper, they actually print the source and the substantiation of that source, texts, dated emails, conversations where the person told someone else years before. 🤷‍♀️

Just like Nolan can have an interpretation of a 3000 year old text, a translator ALSO has an interpretation of a 3000 year old text, things she highlights by using a different word or phrase. These two interpretations can co-exist!

But I also don’t think it’s a review. Does she call it a review? I think it’s a reaction to the adaptation. I haven’t seen the movie (we had to wait to see it in imax), I’m looking forward to it. But I enjoyed her reaction because it’s so specific to what SHE thinks is important in the text.

that odyssey review was pretty funny but also kind of like if wes anderson did the iliad and someone went long on how everything looks like a diorama and the characters have a flat affect and there's a general named "Gen. Greek Tragedy" and like yes i understand that is a wes anderson movie correct

It's fucking stunning that people act like it's impossible to do this without AI anymore when that's exactly what they were doing like three fucking years ago. It's like if you found out the Door Dash guys were spitting in your food and you were like "WELL GREAT, NOW HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO EAT?!"

A friend didn’t have insurance for a little - out of work for about a year. Got a job that entitled her to insurance. Insisted on an extra mammogram because she didn’t know when she’d be insured again. They caught breast cancer SUPER early only because she insisted on that off schedule mammogram.

He has said that for awhile he has decided not to do dark serious stuff because he has said playing sad [heroine addict/ man going through horrible break-up/fill in the blank] wears on you and you take it home. And yes, he has kids and he wants to come home and be happy.

Also his “extensive record”? He’d been campaigning for less than a year and never held a political Position. So yes, while he was campaigning while he was running for his first political position, he said things people wanted to hear.

As a Boston girl I remember being very confused by the reaction to Sinead O’Connor saying that Catholic priests had abused children because I thought it was a well-known fact by that point. Rest in peace, Sinead. We miss you still.

My favorite Mamet story is that Lindsay Crouse used to run through her lines for The Shawl while the lighting supervisor ran light cues before the show and he laughed one night and said, “you never get to complete one sentence in the entire play!”

As it turns out, you do have to listen to experts who are engaging in active considerations of tradeoffs in an ongoing crisis AND you have a role to play by changing your own behavior. They’re going to spend decades trying to prove that these two things aren’t true.
