IIRC, Katsushi Murakami was the one who pushed for Machine Robo to have the same level of engineering and quality as larger deluxe toys but in a small, affordable package that kids could buy with pocket money. He basically created a whole new paradigm for toys.

A while back I went through a tear of jet movies and I highly recommend Les Chevaliers du ciel (aka Sky Fighters) for a movie with beautiful cinematography, weird insults, and a plot that is aughts level goofy. Then again it is technically a comic book movie so maybe that was on brand?

For whatever reason, they decided to show us the Mechasaurus getting shot down at the last minute and then rewind a bit to see Monji take the shot.

The only saving grace to this subplot is Monji is dumb enough to manipulate.

We have just enough time left in the episode for Getter-1 to eat shit.

This is what separates Musashi from like every Gundam pilot.

It's a bit of a shame that a good looking episode (which includes a full frame Getter-3 shoulder throw) takes place underwater with that wavy blue filter.
