This was a fascinating exercise: find out what went wrong with creativity in the games industry. The conclusion: there are too many cowards controlling too many critical levers, and until we figure out how to put people -taste, creativity, and craft- back at the top, we're going to be stuck.

I had a lovely time too! I got much farther with this big canvas than I thought I would; I think painting with company is great for focus, haha.

I called Bell next (it's not my wire, I don't know which service it belongs to) and their automated responder took verbal instructions; when I told it the problem I think it recognized certain keywords, because it immediately forwarded me to an agent. Making me tempted to switch tbh

Omg, that's some total lack of planning! I remember a few years back there was a huge Rogers outage across almost all of Ontario (and maybe elsewhere too)... it's a special layer of bafflement for sure when the service you'd use to report a problem is, itself, also down, lol

I never escaped the automated phone tree at all-- when I got through six layers of "press 1 for X, 2 for Y" by hitting whatever option led to "other", it told me no agents were available to take the call and that I should try again later, and then it hung up on me!!

Asking me if I want to troubleshoot my cell phone or need help logging into my account or want to ask about a new plan-- none of those are my problem! My problem is Wire. Please, horrible phone tree, tell me the number I press for Big Wire Down On Ground (and car, and fence).

I would think that there's some way to quickly let phone and internet providers know when there's a communication cable down somewhere, so they can come and clean it up... but it seems like it is literally impossible to notify Rogers via phone that one of their wires is down. What an awful service.
