#13MorbidMondays Happier. Healthier. Full of life and missing the things that they hated about themself. And, maybe a bit transparent.

#13MorbidMondays

This week's prompt is "faded photograph," so... QUESTION THREE There is a faded photograph from when they were alive, but the ghost bears little resemblance to it. How has their appearance changed? Tag #13MorbidMondays no A.I. Please use alt text (4/5)

042

#13MorbidMondays I.... don't actually know. Probably We Live Here Now by Sarah Pinborough? But that's less... "spirit" and more "soul vs body".

#13MorbidMondays

QUESTION TWO What is your current or most recent ghostly read? Tag #13MorbidMondays no A.I. Please use alt text (3/5)

042

#13MorbidMondays Probably a hazy spot in an otherwise clear room. Where you couldn't tell if it was a developer malfunction or not.

#13MorbidMondays

QUESTION ONE If you were a ghost, what would a spirit photograph with you in it look like? Tag #13MorbidMondays no A.I. Please use alt text (2/5)

#13MorbidMemories Faded photographs always make me think of the impernanence of memory. There was a fantastic story someone wrote on Substack following photographs that I'd love to see more people read. UPDATE: Upon finding it, it's been paywalled :( The Polaroid Lover by Aveline Lark.

#13MorbidMondays

Welcome to the fifth of #13MorbidMondays until October! Prompt: FADED PHOTOGRAPH Chat questions on the theme GHOSTS posted 1pm Eastern Share posts inspired by the prompt/theme or general posts of macabre art, writing, reading recs, music, folklore, history, etc. No A.I. Please use alt text

In the garden I #tend to the weeds. Nurture, not poison. Watch them flourish with a joy in my heart. After all Nothing deserves to die especially because it's unwanted. #vss365 #poetry

💘Beth C Greenberg✍️- Host of #vss365 Aug 1 - 15

In one sense, this word conjures a gentle, nurturing touch. But it can also suggest an inclination that may or may not be desirable. Hmmm ...🤔 Your #vss365 #prompt for August 3, 2026 is #tend What's yours to tend? 🤲

#Char_Roleplay Winnie gives a long, deadpan stare, then scoffs. "Condolences are stupid. No one cares. It's just something you give for optics. You don't look good unless you're convincing, but I've got too much shit to do to care."

#Char_Roleplay

#Char_Roleplay - August 3, 2026 Greetings, Antagonists! Please introduce yourselves, and then tell us, in your own words: What feeling or memory is evoked when you hear the word ‘CONDOLENCES'? #WritingCommunity #WriteSky #Worldbuilding #CharacterDevelopment #AmWriting

#SumLuv Yule Parlay is definitely not a meet cute, but funnily enough, I'd consider Acanthus and Cypress from Tales From The Night Garden a meet-cute, even though that series is not romance genre (there is romance involved with those two.) I like meet-cutes if they make sense and are done well.

📚 Ellie Rhymer! Spaceships and Scoundrels 📚

"In which somebody runs into somebody else, and then something falls, and they begin to talk, and their eyes meet and they realize they are attracted to one another" —Rodger Ebert Do you have a classic one? Or one that passes 😆 Did you avoid altogether? Snips welcome! #SumLuv

#Critterary Species: Shadow AKA: Shadow being, shadow thing, blob They don't have an in-depth organization class as they're considered "junk science"/paranormal. Related to poltergeists and other spirits, they are non-human entities that can shapeshift and prefer to linger in the dark.

Serra Leta

Names, names, names... Starting off we're discussing if your creature(s) has any other names (in any language) they might go by in your story, categorization, and if there's any other family tree relations. #Writing #WritingPrompts #Critterary

#FantasyIndiesAugust Covers LOL I just posted them like half an hour ago. These are the only two I have currently; I'm working on Such Sweet Sorrow right now.

#MythAugust The original people weren't one way or another, but as the myth developed, morality became attached to each deity. Alphonse is deeply moral; the Alphosine base their monarchical structure off of his morality. Neshia is amoral. Any morals she had died with the curse. The members - 1/3

🫜Prof Emily🫜

#MythAugust 3 What kind of moral code do your fantasy gods or spirits follow, if any? Do they share similar moral values to the people, or is their sense of morality completely alien? Do they even do "morality" at all? As usual, interpret as you wish and don't forget to interact with others! ☺️

If you talk to me about my books, I will be endlessly happy. (Still riding a high from Jeb making this meme about Acanthus months ago 🤣)

Authors, show me the book covers you made yourself, without AI. All, lol. These are the TFTNG series, I'm working on Such Sweet Sorrow now.

Authors: show me the book covers you made yourself, without AI. Here’s one of mine. It’s not perfect, but when I look at it, it feels like it belongs to me, and I like that.

#AwesomeCharacters TFTNG - Acanthus is not good with criticism. They already pick apart everything they do. Cypress lets it roll off. ("Fuck 'em" energy.) S3 - Rebecca is a perfectionist. Criticism lances her ego. Nut, she tries to learn from it. YP - Phoebe laughs and tears down the criticizer.

🌱🫜 Charlie (Chelizabeth) Delta 🦊🪻

Tell me more about your #AwesomeCharacters How well does your character handle criticism? Are they easily insulted? Does their confidence suffer from a critique? Do they ignore or shrug it off entirely? Do they learn from it? #WriteSky #WritingCommunity #WritingPrompts

Hedge words, absolutely. I've become hyper aware of this and try to machete every - "in a bit" - "for a moment" - "slightly" That I find. Some make it through. Also, my characters nod and frown a lot.

What’s a word or phrase you overuse when writing? “That” is a big one for me, though I’m getting better at avoiding it #writingq #WritingCommunity #writers

I have a prompt game I've been developing that I plan to run next month with the tag #Sustember. It's open for any genre, but it's about mystery, suspense, and building tension in your work. Does this sound interesting? Would people play along? #WritingPrompt #WritingQ #AmWriting #QueerWriters
