One of the things that bother me about all this 'great filter' stuff is that it presumes that a successful, galactically-enabled race is going to just keep making the same mistakes we're making now, whenever and wherever they go, thus leaving obvious singnature.

I reread 'cat pictures please' by @naomikritzer.bsky.social ... a few times a year, at least.

We should, as a nation/world, impose regulations on all services that charge by the month or the year... if their service goes unused for more than 3 months, they should reduce the rate to like a buck and send a notice warning that services will cease after another 3 months, with no more payments.

Having been involved in agent-based models (not to be confused with agentic llms, btw), its becoming pretty crystal that awareness is crucial to good decision making. To wit, liberal arts studies may be a world saving endeavor and should be built into all education even before higher ed.

Time to be dismantling some corporations... if they're going to exit, they're going to exist in service to the people; not the other way around

Granted, as with most narratives, FOR ALL MANKIND relies on lots of people making lots of stupid decisions in order to keep the story going... BUT... it was good all the same. I'm ready for 2020 now.
