Yes! Now that you mention it, he also sort of blames the sergeant for claiming Leslie Nielsen is AJ Henderson. And the dancer thing is really odd - it goes on for so long. He also gets overly familiar with the girls at the picnic table. (Different time, obvs, but it’s still a little off.)

Identity Crisis has some oddness to it too. The speech patterns are odd, repetitive, almost like theater; lots of up-close facial shots in an upward angle; Columbo entering the crime scene and clearing the area with authority. I totally love it, but it’s clearly McGoohan’s imprint.

Something I’ve noticed is that the audience on both nights of Santini’s show is basically the same - they mostly move people around and give them different hats.

I had a friend who agreed with my point but still found it a slog, so you’re not alone.

I think The Keeper makes a bigger point about this when all is said and done. The characters are different at the end, largely because of the community. It’ll be interesting to see how you view it afterwards.
