For the First Time a Cell Built From Scratch Grows & Divides Scientists built a synthetic cell that combines more lifelike properties than ever before- proof of concept that it’s possible to bring nonliving materials to life, or something close to it, in labs www.quantamagazine.org/for-the-firs...
Kruder & Dorfmeister are touring in support of 30th anny of DJ Kicks! Last year saw their K&D Sessions tour, it was a live band. Flawlessly joy filled !!! =) Didn't know about Tricky... looking it up now and thank you. I'll put it on the Underhill's tab.
FletchI adored Maxinquaye. Tricky is coming through Denver in a couple months.
TBF, all auto industry is struggling, lost, pivoting, and everything from car manufacturers to body shops are holding on by fingernails. Everything is sort of peeling apart mid air. It'll be interesting if the public can take over our democracy again from billionaires who stole it to break things.
Marge In ChargeThey took $1B hit last year trying not to pass on tariff costs like Ford did. They’re also not backing down from developing EVs— even if they’re a little quieter about it. Feels like they’re trying to have their cake & eat it too and survive the WIDE pendulum swing that is US politics.
If you search "vaccine court" in bluesky, you will see reposts of the 60 Minutes CBS News link from what look like bot accounts, no interaction, no nothing. Nice. Bari Weiss has employed spam campaigns of influence to further destroy CBS and her reputation.
Watching local TV, I accidentally left it on & 60 minutes came on. Ppening segment was how when people get sick by accident from a vaccine there's a vaccine court you can go to to sue. That's like focusing on the one hillbilly who got struck by lightning and thinks he was abducted by aliens.
OH SNAP. Was just focused on electronic in my head at that moment. GOT IT because that's my other genre as a cross genre DJ! (well also funk/soul, afrobeat, dub/reggae, latin, jazz / rare groove / lounge, and of course hip hop) With the absolute masterclass rap explosion, I'm dropping groups:
BIRCHYou mentioned a lot of good ones and still didn’t mention any of the great rap albums of the 90s. There’s a whole bunch I would mention here. The idea that they don’t count or something to the crowd that would post the original post here is laughable.
I would love to say I was that idealistic. I've thought about your comment a lot since you posted! I think the genie is out of the bottle, but I think corporate vs individual use is the nuance, ie "our company will not use AI" while individuals will lie and use it in background ways. Still ick.
Berugi 🛡 Vtuber EN/FRThere is absolutely no nuance to AI usage. Any touch of the LLM should trigger a loud reaction and boycott.
I dunno- old school "Boycotts" raised awareness vs destroy/hurt company's bottom line, & bad PR & exposure did move the needle w/ a company at times if not public. Billionaire owned corp blind to that now b/c greed I do think consumer choices (not boycott) w/i economic market forces will hurt them
GreggNo actually it probably won’t. Only a few companies have gotten hit successfully by these boycotts.
A big thing I think people don't understand about electronic music: It's not a genre. It's a filter, or "pass through". Every single genre of music can be "sent through" it: Blues (late RL Burnside), Jazz & Lounge (Waldeck, Dimitri from Paris), Ambient (Glass), Classical (Hania Rani), etc.

A history of electronic music through my times..... - Uncle FishbitsSo, I was talking with a buddy about the fact that most people, at this point, are “electronic music natives”, in that electronic music isn’t that interesting as it has already been around. However, for those of us a bit older, we saw it come out of multiple arenas, until it gelled in the early…unclefishbits.com
