The Washington Supreme Court should absolutely grant emergency diploma privilege. As far as I can tell, this is the worst bar exam disaster of all time. Has one ever been cancelled on its first day before, due to completely foreseeable tech issues? Give these applicants their licenses already.
David ZiffUpdate: Dean Lawson of @uwlaw.bsky.social wrote to our Supreme Court earlier today. She requested the Court grant "diploma privilege . . . to avoid any additional harms to these graduates, specifically to prevent any delay in their careers or admission to the practice." 1/
The more I read about the extremely foreseeable and preventable with proper planning issues which led to the July 2026 Washington Bar Exam getting cancelled, the angrier I get. This is going to harm applicants so so much, financially, career-wise, emotionally, and mentally.
David Ziff"Dear Applicant, With deep regret, I write to inform you that Washington’s July 2026 administration of the NextGen bar exam has been cancelled. We will not continue tomorrow. . . . We do not have sufficient confidence that the technology issues have been resolved . . . . We sincerely apologize."
Ooo, yes, I love this piece too!
Sarah FackrellI also really love @tepski.tech's piece on "soft IP": ip.jotwell.com/patent-law-w...
Wow, this is incredible. I found an article written by the study head which gets into the details of this even more. www.upi.com/Voices/2026/...
Insane new research. Scientists gave asthma patients free electric stoves to replace their gas stoves, then checked to see if symptoms improved. Not only did symptoms improve, ditching gas was *better than medicine.* Details in today's newsletter: www.climatecoloredgoggles.com/p/electric-s...
Can confirm. The summer 2015 bar exam Illinois specific part included a question about a doctrine that not a SINGLE PERSON I KNEW had ever heard of. I completely made up a set of rules, applied them to the facts, and passed on my first try. Just really commit to that BS as if it's true.
Jess Miers 🦝🦞...But if you do blank, don't panic. If you blank on an essay, make shit up. Your goal is to fool the graders. You get points for applying facts to your bullshit rules. Make it look like an essay and pretend you know what you're doing. You will pick up points for organized nonsense.
I love this alternative explanation for Mr. Pibb!
Kirk LennonAlternative possibility: In the UK surgeons for weird reasons don’t use Dr and instead stay with Mr (or Ms or whatever), so he could just be British.
