Wish I could send you down some of the rain we just had here at home West of Stirling, Nicola. Dozens of Swallows flying low & fast between / under the Oaks after the shower earlier. I think some more coming later and also this week. We are fortunate to have it. Much needed.

Dozens of Swallows for #FirstBirdOfMyDay … so many that they almost look like leaves being blown in the gusting wind. Flying low again this morning, change of pressure, temperature today after the rain(!) earlier. Yesterday they were not about unless you looked high in the sky.

Shenanigans from the Jackdaws and the subtle calls from the Flycatchers for #FirstBirdOfMyDay . —- Swallows and the “Mouse & Mand Sartins” are notably flying high today after the last couple of days of morning drizzle where they were flying a hand’s width above the grasses.

So nervous of some idiot(s) bringing up one of those “disposable” BBQs or starting a fire along the Combe Gibbet Hill… …. And either some sparks lift off or after cooking they think that they have put it out… … embers in the dust… … winds still high… … sparks get into the gorse… … and whoosh.

Not at all a pedant - love the detail (and you are absolutely right, of course).

Flycatchers and quite a lot of them - been a good breeding season - for #FirstBirdOfMyDay. Wee bit of rain here West of Stirling. Hay all done, bailed & stacked in barns. There is a natural timing cycle to that; the Barn Owlets are all fledged before the Owl Boxes are disturbed by the stacking. 💚

The Sweet Peas have been ridiculously good this Summer (we are lucky to have had some rain and also get morning dews) … but the scent, wow !

Swallows again for #FirstBirdOfMyDay diving above the Walled Garden as I picked a lot of the sweetest smelling of Sweet Peas (need picking every 2-3 days) and lifted some perky potatoes. Cow 💩 & Seaweed fertiliser 👍 Had a wee bit of drizzle this morning but I think more coming in the next few days.

Swallows on Clegg / Horsefly hunting missions (hopefully, because the little biters seem particularly hungry this Summer) for #FirstBirdOfMyDay. Wonderful. Oh - something happened this morning, these water droplets started falling from the sky. Apparently it is called #Rain ? Didn’t last long. 🙏

Swallows for #FirstBirdOfMyDay flying low and fast above the grass and #Hares . The Swallows seem to particularly like the cut path between the Oaks.

#Swifts & Parakeets for #FirstBirdOfMyDay above the trees and buildings … … while Gulls and Pigeons are scavenging the roads. [In London, back up to 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 today. Right hand side seat on the way home to get the best views of that Northumberland & Berwickshire Coastline. 💚]

After the recent heat on the Costa del #Stirling there was quite a heavy dew this morning. You could see the wee spider webs over the “#Lawn”… … I say “lawn”, as in reality it is a mix of #Moss, Selfheal, #Clovers, Buttercups, Dandelions and usually a #fungus of some sort has stuck their heads up.

#Magnolia - random #Flower popped up this morning. I am guessing a late Spring 2026 riser rather than an early 2027 riser.
