I loved it (seen it twice) but the lack of sex, the boring costumes, the undeniably Christian lens, and the excision of the "Nobody" joke are so painfully Christopher Nolan. Because he didn't really capture Odysseus' roguish humor and likely didn't want to touch Calypso raping Odysseus for 7 years.

These scumbags are just afraid of the uncomfortable conversation it's going to encourage about decades (centuries?) of US foreign policy if we call it murder when our government kills people in other countries.

There's no argument these centrist types love more than that rich western businessmen aren't responsible for the deaths they cause overseas with their policies. They need this to be a truism ("this should be obvious") because they simply don't want to think about it, so pointing it out is "uncivil."
