I have no doubts today do, i was only going off what I could find online on there aircraft allocations. They only have helicopters allocated to Toronto area, all their fixed wing aircraft are in the north and their contracted flights don't fly into toronto on any sort of schedule I could find

From all current info there is no plans to shut down the airport. Also outside of operating out of island airport. Ornge helis land at the hospitals themselves in Toronto.

Are they not open? Again Im unaware of infants or people being denied the care due to them not being open or allowed to land. What I do hear people suffering from lack of local access to immediate care, something Orgne doesnt solve. Thats where our problem lie, immediate local care.

Thunder Bay in Level 2c NICU and Sudbury is level 2. There are only 8 level 3s in Ontario. Since such care is only required in most drastic premi cases, those would be evaced to London, Hamilton, Ottawa, or Toronto.

Grand River hospital is a modern hospital that provides all major care for cardiac and surgery programs. Its not a small town ER. Its a major medical centre. Outside of very specific niche cases, why would they be sending people in need out to Toronto?

What does Sudbury and T.Bay not support? Those hospitals are major regional medical centres.

The staffing issues are more prominent in small regional hospitals that aren't Orgne visited. Thought storages are not unknown in many places outside or Toronto & in Toronto. Ive not heard of ppl being diverted to Toronto from North due to such things. Maybe you have? Any links to these issues?

This.. Living in Toronto with the Leafs.. The interest in hockey now is miniscule compared to when I was a kid.

Having lived up north and having family members who work in the governing field of medicine. The amount of trouble many of hospitals up there have getting certain specialist is heartbreaking. And sadly its also become a dumping ground for dr's with complaints on their files who cant practice in TO.

Also amount of Hospital in TD Toronto reflect more the density of the city, the historical importance of it as a medical centre and I'd wager some very Toronto specific centrism in the medical field when it comes to preferred work locations. Much of Ontario has hard time finding staff to fill roles

This. Planes from remote communities go to the nearest regional centre... Not Toronto. Also we need those regional centres to have high capacity medical facilities not just for Ornge operations but also for the sake of everyone living there.

Also it forced the development of high capacity care elsewhere outside of Toronto, which is needed for such a large province. It is financially and logistically unsustainable to rely Ornge to deal with all medical needs across Ontario.

And people do end up in Toronto, but moving people from Northern Ontario to Toronto isn't an "emergency" situation, it's a long term situation Having lived in north in fly-in communities people in dire need were always evaced to Thunder Bay or Soo Lookout depending on situation. Because of distance

The idea if Im not mistaken is to treat people around the province in the closest centre to them than fits their needs. Other places outside of Toronto also have high caliber medical care in this province.
