So assuming they have human style aversion to getting eaten (vs “eh we reproduce fast enough, some predation is acceptable”) they might develop weaponry or other defenses where humans were satisfied with moats, walls, etc

Much harder for them to build walled cities/fortresses than humans because they’ll probably be able to literally catapult people over walls even a few times their height, and similarly a relatively small predator can bypass those barriers.
