So many modern metal bands don’t bother with riffcraft. It is just chugging for four bars, rinse and repeat. No nuance, no flourishes, no sense of melody. Just a mildly rhythmic series of palm muted chugs, and that’s all you get. Metal is capable of SO MUCH MORE than that, yet it’s all some bands do
