Twin Peaks, horror, books, psychotronalia. He/him.

Would have been my pick, but I’m trying to (mostly) go with movies I haven’t posted about before.

Oh yeah. Not interested. Not even worth pirating I just won’t be seeing it.

Waaaaaaiiiiiitttt… what? Dammit. I knew he was a giant asshole but he was also brilliantly funny back in the day.

Nothing gets me hotter than when people insert themselves wordlessly reacting someone else’s videos.

Yeah I’d never even heard of it. Added to my list.

Go ahead and ask Amber how many wallets I’ve lost and cards I’ve had to cancel.

Ghost Story is well told but features a strangely puritanical view on sex that does not carry through to other Straub books.

And I say this as a diehard Dancer in the Dark fan. I like his bleakness (and Antichrist holy shit), but he can be really funny when he wants to.

Yeah I still end up liking his stuff even when I’m not expecting to. I’m just a little tired of his latter day schtick. Early Lars had one thing in common with Sam Raimi; he punished his characters but not the audience. I miss the guy who made Epidemic and The Five Obstructions.

Also, von trier got so stuck in making emotionally ‘important’ films. I miss his more prankstery 90s output.

In the early 2000s I ordered the two Kingdom miniseries on dvd from Denmark, an incredibly limited run at the time. For years it was one of my most prized possessions.

I’m sad to say that despite a very likable cast and some good moments I was not a fan. I don’t think the mystery really held together and I just couldn’t understand the character motivations a lot of the time.

I’m not sure if I should say I hope you’re back soon, cause we could all use breaks from social media, but I hope things settle down. I enjoy your posts.

Like those last few minutes where he’s freaking out and the map keeps getting bigger, you could almost end it there. Maybe edit some of the finale dialogue and scenes to put a capper on things.

I just wish the movie had gone with the idea that he’s driving himself mad. The last minute reveal is just so convenient it makes me roll my eyes. I still like it I just wish it had had the guts to really go for the bleak ending.

I wrote about it on my blog back when I would occasionally try to make that a habit. I think it turned out ok. Light spoilers within.

Ju-On: Origins - Reawakening A Sleepy FranchiseI finally got around this week to watching Ju-On: Origins on Netflix. I say 'finally', but in actuality the show has only been availab...workingdeadproductions.blogspot.com

Kind of. In true ‘requel’ fashion this positions itself as the real world story that inspired the films.

But man this one holds no punches. It blends real historical horrors (sarin gas attacks, the murder of Junko Furuta) in a way that might be queasy but is certainly effective.

I’m not sure what the reputation for this is. Its rankings are fairly middling, and I think a lot of people freaked out by the first few films in the series had gotten bored, and then Sadako vs. Kayako, as fun as it was, probably gave the impression they’d jumped the shark.

Ooh this got some recent high profile screenings here, really piqued my interest.
