Oh, he's very well aware that sports/FIFA fans have so little by way of morals or ethics. He understands the audience perfectly, and he knows that NONE of them (at least not enough numbers) are going to "pray" or "meditate" because they ALWAYS talk themselves into watching. He's not gaslighting.

And when he makes criticism, he knows damn well that he is "setting the narrative" about the topic of Israel at the *national* level for the Democratic Party, whici is still far behind. The formulation will be either "just hate Israel" or "just loathe Israel" and he knows it, too.

Talk about looking a gift horse (no pun intended) in the mouth: there is no doubt sales of her translation will skyrocket, and it's ironic she should be bitching, as her book introduction talks a LOT about interpretation and adaption. "All for me, none for thee", I suppose.

Spoken like a non-sports follower. Sports orgs and their huge rosters are majority right-wing or lean that way. They are reactionary. The only people who think they must be socially/politically liberal (or leaning) are, well, folks like you. And sports fans? Even worse. How is this news to you?

Americans are embarrassingly lazy: they don't want to do the hard work. They prefer to stand on the sidelines, demanding "where are the Democrats" and "someone should really do something!" in the ultimate act of learned helplessness. The folks of the Civil Rights era did it all for nothing.

Nothing worse than the nation's Media Glitterati acting as though they've come to an inflection point when it's actually the realization that bowing to tyrants wasn't the protected payoff they assumed it was. Pathetic.

You sound like someone who is not a sports fan (they have no ethics and no morals and voted for this criminal) who believes that all sports figures are aligned with your personal leanings because, well, “reasons” that have no basis in reality. Sports orgs are reactionary and always to the right.
