Not sure if it's weather related but I've got a cracking headache, this soupy humidity is not for me.

Well that was pathetic lasted a few minutes but some rain which has sort of dampened the ground. Nothing measurable, amusing that’s the “wettest” I’ve seen it in 6 weeks. #London

Humidity is increasing. Possible measurable rain currently SE of IOW tracking to eastern half of London I feel. We’ll see….

29C highs were forecast in London today we’re already 31.2C at Heathrow not long after noon. Becoming 27th day at or above 30C in capital by the end of next week, I suspect we’ll be on 30+ days. A months worth! Previous record year 1976 with 20 days, 2026 sees a significant leap.

You know LHR experienced an unusually hot month when JFK average July max was 0.6C cooler than London 28.7C vs 29.3C. However, nights significantly warmer there.

Solar eclipse next Wednesday the most significant in 27 years. Some details.

Fairly good consensus for a heatwave emerging next week. Most likely forecast temperatures will uptrend as we get nearer. It looks to coincide very well for partial solar eclipse next Wednesday where around 90% of sun will be covered by the moon. #ukweather

I spy with my little eye something beginning with ‘H’ need I elaborate. #ukweather

Thunderstorms with beneficial rain rolling NE into Belgium this evening. Not even a Kent clipper, just accompanied convective cloud the force field across SE UK is strong! It does get rather boring after a while 😐

With a mean monthly temperature of 22.8C we observed in July 2026 the hottest month on record in #London +5C above older 1961-1990 baseline. What made month record breaking was daytime max 29.3C, 1C above next warmest in July 2018. For minimum, it was 3rd warmest behind 2006, 2018.

Another day of steep division across UK up to 33C in south of England, meanwhile a drizzly 14C near Inverness in London we last had these afternoon temps earlier in May. I reckon a fair few Scots after this summer and hearing nonstop about it will be looking south of border to relocate.

Hot afternoon. Wisley in Surrey up to 32.8C at 3pm most likely seems we will fall short of 35C a small mercy this summer 😜

The official stats are in for London Heathrow what an astonishing month. It’s not exaggeration to say July 2026 being the hottest, sunniest and driest month of all-time. To get all three key metrics lined up is incredible, such a summer month I’d say is unlikely to reoccur in your lifetime. (1/2)

Sighting the next significant ridging influence into early next week, looks set to dominate. Feasible we could also see a heatwave, uncertainty on temps but likely very warm. What’s clearer a dire situation if searching for desperately needed rainfall. (1/2)

Today is 41st consecutive day without any measurable rain at #London Heathrow a new record at this site (1948-present). Second best streak 39 consecutive days without rain in June-July 2018. We are living through a historic dry spell. Just how far can it go? #drought

Today is 38th day at or above 28C/82F at #London Heathrow by this Tuesday we will be on day 40 and still in early August. The previous record holder 2018 with 32 days…..

The coming week looks more dynamic compared to much of summer so far. But, any rain continues to look very meagre or absent further southeast. This blog is also accessible to free members as a one-off. www.patreon.com/TheSnowDream...

The new week starts very hot, but a novelty for this summer we see cool northern Atlantic air flood in midweek. In normal circumstances temps would go comfortably below average. But the warm seas surrounding UK and residual heat store in land the EPS still has highs of 22C in London on Thur/Fri.

SE England averaged 0.9mm 🌧️ in July 2026 just 2% of 1991-2020 average, it has become driest month of all-time in region. Former record February 1891 with 1.1mm. #drought

There has been a weather station in Kew Gardens since 1871 a span of 155 years and counting. July 2026 was driest July in series, formerly July 1999 2.5mm and of all months with 0mm. A constant has been high variability, but we are seeing increased very dry July's.... (1/2)
