Every time I see somebody on social media spell "psych" as "sike", I feel we're a little close to driving juggernauts across the plains in search of the last remnants of civilisation.

"Project Hail Mary". So far. But, I'm not going to lie. Although it wasn't close, my Number 2 is "The Devil Wears Prada 2" (again, so far), because it's just so much damned fun. And it actually has salient, serious economic points about the changing face of media, and creepy billionaire buyouts.

Amused by the armchair writers out there, tossing in their ten cents on Emily Wilson's take-down of Nolan's "Odyssey", especially loftily saying what an adaption "should" be. It is not your "duty" as a filmmaker to change the source text, if the source text works. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

There's a whole generation who won't remember "Goodies" era Bill Oddie (probably in the same way pre-Gen-X talk about The Goon Show), but they were the surreal Homer Simpson of our childhood. Bill was the front-man of "Ecky Thump" (and "Black Pudding Bertha.") The Trandem is now a unicycle. RIP.

Eric Idle

I’m so sad Bill Oddie left us. He was sick for some time and I wrote to him. He auditioned me for The Pembroke Revue in 1963 and I stepped into his roles for The Edinburgh Festival when the Cambridge Footlights went to the West End. We watched England win the World Cup together at Wembley in β€˜66.

"Post a perfect album from the '90s that isn't Nirvana, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, or Alice In Chains." I actually can't find one I'd wholly go to bat for in terms of Pop Music, but the closest for me would be Rolling Stones' "Voodoo Lounge". 3/4 of it totally gets there: my favourite Stones album.
