My suspicion is that actual good articles that bring them prestige usually take lots of time and money, so they also shovel out filler material like this that's cheap, fast, and algorithmically rewarded.

I'm numbered among former subscribers because of this strategy. But their subscription base is apparently growing, which I suspect they view as validation. /shrug

Yes, and to minimize these guys further (because I'm not sure I've seen an original thought yet come out of that podcast), the underlying ideas have circulated for months. Open source models closing the gap, frontier models losing moats, value shifting from model to app layer, etc.

I have nothing but respect for the reporters who are the exceptions to this rule. I can't imagine how hard it is to do actual journalism while so much of the industry around you is selling out. Please know it's appreciated in the present and will be remembered in the future.

These are good ideas. I've long believed that "debates" (or whatever you want to call those performances) are a really poor way for a candidate to demonstrate how informed or capable they are.

You continue to double down on a fundamental category error. Expected monetary value is not expected utility. Risk aversion is not irrational bias.

This is standard behavioral econ stuff. Humans place a heavy psychological premium on certainty over probability. You misunderstand that people optimize for risk elimination and regret minimization.

That is a dramatic underestimate of what's unique about SLC's grid, which is iconic. 10 acres per block, unusually wide streets, precise coordinate system... Every kid learning Utah history learns about how unusual this is.
