And the bag wasn't too big. It was regulation size - they didn't have room for carry-on for half the passengers.

There's no serious political opposition: the two main federal parties are pro-fossil fuels. So too are the provincial premiers. Big Oil has the deep pockets to purchase political goodwill. The only opponents are environment groups and environmentalists without comparable funding. David vs. Goliath.

One of BC's main attractions is its priceless natural resources, including the Fraser River estuary that is critical habit for fish & wildlife. Smith & Carney are willing to throw that in the toilet for the petrobucks. No surprise when they are already turning Alberta into a petrodamaged wasteland.

This is a bona fide example of tool use in birds. Perhaps the most remarkable thing is that the heron removes the bread before it is eaten by a fish too big to eat. Some impressive cognitive skills.

I work downtown and see the guys carrying the angle grinders out in the open. Not even trying to hide it. Your bike is gone in under 30 seconds.

It's a very difficult problem. There's really no acceptable chemical control. It would be massive and would wipe out all insect populations. Locally, mow long grass, and practice self care: wear DEET or picaridin, keep pants tucked in socks, and shirts tucked in pants, and be vigilant.
