False. Food deserts exist because store owners don't open stores there. When they did, they were closed because people found cheaper food elsewhere, usually because big box stores priced them out. It's always about affordability. No one is traveling miles for food for fun.
Ryan MoultonA grocery store doesn't exist there because people wouldn't buy enough food from it to keep it in business. The people in the area don't have some combination of the time, energy, conscientiousness, tools, or skills to make home cooked meals, so they don't have much use for a grocery.
