This article (about the effect of AI across the job market) clearly wasn’t written with this headline in mind. Maybe a sub editor took it and slapped on an angle they hoped would work without caring if it was accurate. Or maybe, with all the job cuts at the Beeb, it was done by AI? 🤖

To be fair, they scatter other job clues throughout the text like breadcrumbs (telemarketing and legal services?) but it finishes with the impressively vague statement “So there is much uncertainty here, but some clear trends emerging.” Mmm-hmm, ok, care to spell those out IN TERMS OF JOB ROLES?

Despite the promise, the closest we get is mentioning jobs in “financial analysis, early stage legal work, even some entry level creative industry jobs”. Gee, thanks. ‘Creative industry’ beware, eh? Ever thought of writing an astrology column?

Is this lazy sub-editing, poor presentation or click bait by committee? The headline promises to specify which jobs are ‘most vulnerable to AI’, but the article actually measures the improvement of the tech, speed of take up and the overall trends in sectors vulnerable to AI…🧵
