This is predictably where we end up when we only have national transportation planning (car dominated) and no national land-use planning (eg the coordination of commerce/industry/housing/transpo/agri/greenspace/etc.). My masters in regional planning from 20 years ago just makes me depressed now.

Right now, Dems should be on as many news segments and podcasts as possible blaming Susan Collins for the death of a 28-year old Mainer. She is Chair of the Appropriations Committee and she voted to give ICE an obscene amount of money. She has blood on her hands. Say it loudly and frequently!!

Many years ago I traveled to New Zealand, came home to Western Mass and told the city planner I was going to write a memo about getting some public toilets (I served on the planning board at the time). A fellow member legit stopped me and said, “yeah but homeless people might use them.” 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️

Noooo that was such a pretty place (I lived at 16th and T and used to spend a lot of time there in the early 2000s). Sometimes it was scary, but mostly just people playing pickup soccer, hanging out.

Wow, this makes me really not want to watch @chrislhayes.bsky.social ever again. Is it so fucking hard for men to question patriarchy? This is such garbage.

I wish we could expand the language from “sexual misconduct” to also say “misogyny,” “sexism,” and the most accurate: “violations of women’s human rights.”

Also, walk or ride a bike- it’s a ridiculously good way of making mental maps (and i know, living in a non-car-dependent place is a privilege - even though it shouldn’t be!)

And it’s not lost on me that 27 year old men from NY are unfamiliar with/dismissive of the Maine women who have been rolling up their sleeves and doing the work for decades. I’m sick of Dems pretending to be the party of equality with this level of straight up misogyny.

“describe what it means to live in a patriarchy in one sentence or less.” this is it. it’s WILD that these behaviors don’t rate for men as potential problems, and for women, well yeah I worry about when I mindlessly accidentally shoplifted a bottle of “Puttin’ on the Spritz” hairspray in 1988.

I don’t know where to put my Graham Platner rage, but some of it’ll end up in a letter to my beloved @warren.senate.gov whom I adore. Gonna need a pinkie promise that Dems will stop upholding patriarchy. Those concessions to Platner’s early and obvious (to me) red flags really sting.

I’ve been on that train and took a pic of that digital on-board sign with the speed. It’s remarkable!! And so easy to get tix in advance online/mobile app.
