I use this example because it proves my point that audiences are just pickier about what's worth seeing in theaters and what they'll wait to see at home. Dune was a theater worthy experience, real cinema Space Jam 2 was a time wasting oddity nobody was gonna see in theaters
I don't think the 2021-2023 mantra of "Theaters are dying" was ever true, I think what happened was after the 2020 pandemic, audiences just became picker about what movies they'd see in theaters
Superman 2025 did amazing in theaters, KPop Demon Hunters was a streaming movie first and still did amazingly when put in theaters after the fact, and now Toy Story 5, Odyssey, and Brand New Day are all doing numbers. I was right, theaters were never dying 😎
