Yeah, the site's been through what, three or four owners now worth of refreshes and system changes, and the layout for anything that old looks absolutely terrible. I'm lucky the interview still displays at all. Still, weird main image and weirdly low quality. Why not a still of Cromwell from BABE?

It was actually helpful in this case! I just wanted proof that I wasn't re-reporting rumors that someone made up years ago and that the internet's just been echo-chambering all this time. In this case, at least I know James Cromwell actually said all these things.

Yeah, I'm pretty over found footage, but I think here, he uses it sparingly and in the right places, and makes it very effective without turning it into a gimmick.

Hot tip, then: Might be time to revisit 1939's GREAT GUY with James Cagney and Mae Clarke. (I've never seen it myself, but I see it's on Tubi and a lot of the other ad-supported services. It's on my to-watch list now.)

Fan-freaking-tastic. I told my team someone with a much more encyclopedic knowledge of noir was going to do this so we shouldn't, but I had no idea the references were this in depth. You're going to have fun with the series. Have you seen screeners yet?

He's not wrong. His whole public persona is "avuncular nice guy with a trickster streak." And he answers questions so thoughtfully. It was a great interview. But I wasn't scared of him, I was just nervous about not hitting the right angles, because there are about 10,000 things we could discuss.

Agreed! I love talking to an expert in a field I know nothing about, and I love it even more when they're a self-identified nerd who gets excited talking about the thing.
