so our "reward" for living thru a global pandemic is the worst governments ever. all over.

Perhaps using the politician who was involved in the razing of Toronto Centre Island isn't the ideal spokesperson here.

This Ontario minister championed land value capture (LVC) to fund transit. When land values rise because of public investments, the public should get some of that back to fund more transit. We could be doing this everywhere.

Even with all the work being done by the lake I love spending time there. But it wouldn't kill the city to make transit that makes it more accessible.

this might be one of the most apt descriptions of canada from someone who is not canadian... and then this "Australians and Canadians have a relationship that nobody markets and everybody understands." i genuinely snort laughed in places.

Almost horizon-less at the lake this morning. Plus birds and biting flies.

as a fairly typical canadian any time there is a run of decent weather i start wondering when the other shoe is going to drop.

Rob Ford did this too. Tried to claim the budget for office expenses for councillors was gravy. Be judicious yes. But there are expenses involved with these jobs so I want to see they were reasonable. I don't believe there are none.

Over his eight years in office, Premier Doug Ford has billed Ontario taxpayers more than $44,000 in airfare, hotels and meals, despite recently claiming that he has “zero” public expenses, @RichardCityNews reports. #OnPoli toronto.citynews.ca/2026/07/28/p...

the first night i'd moved back to TO in the early 90s i went out to take some boxes to the garage behind the property. i heard this weird groaning and was a little startled in my new Parkdale 'hood. the light popped on and i spotted a huge raccoon trying to hoist himself over a 3' chain link fence.
