Patreon laying off 20% of their staff is sad but TBH Patreon is a service that should be run by a handful of people just taking care of money flows. None of their dumb growth hack features. Be the money collection guys. Take a cut and have a billion dollar business with a staff leaner than Onlyfans.

The funniest thing was on Mastodon though where someone complained that that way Codeberg would never grow and replace GitHub. It's an association. It doesn't need to grow, it just needs to serve its members and mission. Fucking toxic growth mindset.
tanteI've had fun with the unhinged dudes on Mastodon complaining that Codeberg's members voted to no longer allow vibe-coded projects on our platform. Didn't expect it but "coders" here are also super pissed. Good. More internet communities should make decisions and throw some shit out.

It does make sense: OpenAI was losing ground and mindshare to Anthropic. They are running out of money but couldn't IPO because SpaceX ruined it. This "our model is a Cyberweapon" is advertising directly to the Pentagon.
tanteNo, OpenAI's new magic models did not autonomously hack Huggingface. Per OpenAI's PR blog post (https://openai.com/index/hugging-face-model-evaluation-security-incident/):

But the AI bros keep telling me that water usage is not a problem. The officials must be lying.
Prem SikkaThe UK will not have enough water for future datacentres. England faces 5bn litre a day shortfall for public water supplies. A trillion litres of water a year lost to leaks. Widespread hosepipe bans. No national grid for water. Poor infrastructure. No national plan.
Nothing ages worse than defining a minister based on a crumbling hype. Did the Tony Blair institute give them that dumb idea? It's as if Labour just didn't want to govern anymore.

We just need a little bit of chatbot regulation: Ban them. Quick fix until some provider can build a chatbot that they can show doesn't have the negative effects the current ones have.
Tech Policy PressVoters are already asking AI chatbots how to vote. Marie Erikson says "Some chatbot regulation will support democracy. Too much will stifle it." Where's the line?
"Responsible inclusion of ACM Publications can help improve the quality and factual grounding of AI systems while making advanced computing knowledge more accessible across languages, regions, and levels of expertise." it what @acm.org wants to achieve but that's not how any of this works.
Emily M. BenderI urge the @acm.org to look at its values (e.g. as encoded in the Code of Conduct) and ask: how do we stand for those values in the faces of pressure from wealthy interests?
Immer wenn etwas im Politikbetrieb richtig mies läuft, ist Jens Spahn ein gutes Beispiel dafür. Interesting.
