Okay, it's confirmed now: Jonah will be coming back to shelves October 7th in a 6-issue miniseries by Michael Walsh titled "Jonah Hex and the Shadow of Death". The first 4 pages (sans dialogue) are already up for preview, along with the solicit, so that's all I'm basing my comments to follow on. 1/

Some Hex news overshadowed by us finally getting word about the upcoming series (more on that in another post) is that not only are we getting a second Western volume from the DC Finest line, it'll contain the very first reprint of the rare "Zany" Jonah Hex parody!

Didn't really warm up to "Born in the USA" until adulthood (had to get some years in me to understand the anger in it), but "I'm on Fire" clicked with me as a little kid. I think in that case, it was less the subject matter and more the guitar and the image that the words paint in my head. 🎸🎤
Bruce Springsteen"I’m on Fire" was the fourth single from "Born in the U.S.A." and reached No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in April 1985. It remains one of Bruce’s most popular streaming titles, 41 years after its initial success, and continues to find its way to new generations of listeners.
And if'n everybody that follows me buys a copy, I'd greatly appreciate it! susanhillwig.square.site
I just followed this account just based on the fact that they wrote a book called "Swords and Sixguns" lol @susanhillwig.bsky.social
The sidekick name "Bullet the Gun Boy" -- with a logo made from bullets! -- is just killing me.

I keep seeing posts for #WesternComicsMonth, so I reckon this is as good a time as any to repost a link to my magnum opus, wherein I document every significant moment in Jonah Hex history, both on the page and behind the scenes. Right now, I've got the first 40 years covered, so go take a look-see!

I don't think we'll ever see the old-school graphic with the weird "A" ever come back.

I need to put this Hex cover through the #Memeday wringer. Expect to see it pop again when October rolls around!
Comics CoversAlex Jaffee did a DC version of Marvel's "Fifty State Initiative" for the Fourth of July, and Jonah Hex's many-times-great-granddaughter Jinny gets to rep for Wyoming (first state to give women the vote, by the by!).
Alex Jaffe “Alex Jaffe” Alex JaffeWYOMING: Wyoming doesn’t have many heroes, but it was a frequent setting for DC’s western titles, and especially Jonah Hex, which is why I’m assigning it to the modern day Jinny Hex.
They (almost) always have ol' Jonah in uniform, but it doesn't get mentioned often that he managed to rise to the rank of lieutenant. Not bad for a poor kid who probably never got done with his schoolin', thanks to Pa sellin' him off to the Apache and all.
