It’s very, very sad news.

This is heartbreaking news. Sincere condolences to you and your family, the SAR family, and friends. I enjoyed following him online for his comments on outdoor safety as well as being a transplant recipient (I’m a donor myself). Though I’m local we never met in person. So sorry for your loss.

As a kid I loved this song so much when it came out that I learned the piano part. I played it so much I’m sure it’s still in my muscle memory.

As a parent, a teacher, and a citizen I am not looking forward to a future where everything is AI. I’m dreading it. Fighting it. Especially when I remember the tech bros behind it all and their lack of morals and ethics. They stole the intelligence of others and now expect people to buy it back.

A few times a week at the elementary school I work at district maintenance workers come and blow dust up and around while we run around shutting windows. I don’t want them to lose their jobs but I’m sure there are better things they could be doing.

If there’s no further spread (which I sincerely hope is the case), it’s because of good luck rather than good management. And they will have learned nothing. Again.

I hope they are identified and made an example of. I also hope the city or whatever agency oversees marine life in the city, will immediately ban jet skis when there is known whale activity.

Reminds me of tobacco companies. Don’t worry smoking is good for you! More doctors prefer our brand. No proof it causes lung cancer.

So glad you’re on the mend. Another tip is to pack extra snacks and a water bottle if you’re taking a kid to the ER. And under no circumstances eat the egg salad sandwich a kind nurse offers, even if you haven’t eaten all day and half the night.

I heard this at my GP appt last fall for something unrelated. I mentioned I got the covid vaccine the day before and he replied, “Why? It’s just a cold now. Why did you feel like you needed the vaccine?” (As UBC med student also in exam room.) I was so shocked I didn’t know what to say!

My kids’ dad is getting swept up at the end of the month when 🇨🇦 govt lays him off, in his early 50s but doesn’t qualify for early retirement and pension is not enough to retire yet. So…yeah that keeps me up at night.
