I work in mental health. I love my job. I can’t imagine trying to do my job forty years ago. The stigma, turning the ill out into the street, the poorly understood meds… We may not live in a golden age, but there’s a helluva lot that’s better now and we’d be fools not to recognize it.

Mental health medications. There’s a lot more and they work much, much better.

I dunno, mine had so many parts replaced before 100k it was like I was driving a new car. I could do more of the maintenance myself, but my current cars are both well over 125k and are perfectly reliable.

I’ve never been a landlord, but I’ve had good ones before. I also work with folks who do abuse their rental contracts & landlords. I’m not taking sides, but saying there’s good & bad examples on both sides of the equation. And I think Mamdani is entirely in the right to crack down on slumlords.

For example, that hardworking family may have busted their ass for years to buy a mortgage for a rental property, then depends on the rent to pay their mortgage. They may do the repairs themselves or work another job to pay for repairs. Not all landlords, clearly. But there are good and fair ones.

I do appreciate when someone corrects their grammar. I know it’s not a big deal to most, but it does show a level of thought and care about what you’re saying. 👍

Jess- do you know who the trans speakers are that you say were refused the opportunity to speak at the 2024 DNC? I keep coming back to this, you keep changing the subject. And who knows, I may be in denial, but I think the economy and poor messaging there were larger factors.

I’m sorry, but many things contributed to Democrats losing the election. I could go on but I don’t think I need to. Suffice it to say that I doubt the Democrat response to anti-trans attack ads was the deciding factor for enough people to flip the election.

You’re actually wrong. People are asked to speak and request to speak both. And while I would have loved to have a trans speaker in 2024, I get that there may be reasons there wasn’t a trans speaker beside “they refused” and “not allowed.” This is why I keep asking for names. I want to know who.

I ask again, who asked and was refused? I keep asking this because you keep using very prejudicial language. “Refused,” “Not allowed,” but you’ve yet to say anything about why a trans speaker would speak other than “because they’re trans.” I don’t want a token, I want someone to say something.

Who? As I said, I haven’t heard anything about this. And I would also add, again, that we’re talking about people of a certain stature- some people just aren’t going to be speaking at a national convention because they wouldn’t draw viewers.

So a trans speaker requested to speak and was denied? This is the part I don’t get. You say “refused” and “wasn’t allowed” but I haven’t heard anything about someone trans and of national stature asking to speak and being rebuffed.

I have a question which may just be pedantic, but may be relevant. You keep using the word “refused.” Did a trans Democrat of national relevance ask to speak and was turned down? (I say “national relevance” because you’re not going to turn down, say, Michelle Obama for some unknown.)
