Maybe everyone is right. Wilson’s point seems to be that she found the depiction unsatisfying because it didn’t show how “complicated” Odysseus was. But maybe Nolan only wanted to show a traumatised man rather than the complications. And he certainly did that. bsky.app/profile/emil...
EMILY WILSON7. The film centers Odysseus's guilt over his war crimes, but never shows us the POV of his victims, and instead glorifies the perpetrator for feeling bad about himself. I found this unsatisfying ethically and worse, imaginatively, because Damon's character is given only one mood (Troubled).
